As I said in the intro Fade the opinions and memories are the way I saw things at the time. It wasn't all bad and the hassle, politics and problems didn't detract from what were very exciting times. The modern scene is thriving, trouble is nothing more than the odd scuffle here and there (few and far between) and although the average age has got steadily older there's still a party to be had.

Got your book for Christmas and read it by Boxing Day.  Didn't agree with all your opinions but at least we don't have to fight about it anymore.  I f I had been active in the 80's I don't think I would have gone to too many rallys, they weren't for the faint hearted for sure.  When the next one coming out!?

From the author of the Quadrophenia novel:

'Just finished reading your labour of love book...I've really enjoyed it...nice feel about it...it's about a period in the two wheeled scene of which I knew absolutely zilch about before diving between its covers...I only really picked up on the continuing Mod scene in '95 when "Brummell's Last Riff" was published.

There are a couple of faces I recognise from the Nottingham Scooter Club and Scooter Restorations of Bulwell. We've used on of the Lambrettas pictured in Nottingham Evening Post photo shoots in the run up to Mod Crop.'

Take care
Alan
